American Fork

Golf in American Fork

American Fork has Fox Hollow Golf Club on 1400 North — 18 holes, par 72. Worth knowing if you are searching: Fox Hollow and Tri-City are the same course. It was Tri-City, a joint venture between American Fork, Lehi and Pleasant Grove, until a remodel around 2008. Listings still show both names and people assume there are two courses.

Lessons are about fifteen minutes away at a range on the Orem–Vineyard line.

For American Fork Golfers

A real municipal course to practise on

Having a genuine 18-hole municipal course in town changes what lessons should look like. If you can play regularly and cheaply, the bottleneck is usually not range time — it is that you are repeating the same round with the same misses. A 9-hole playing lesson at $150 tends to be more useful for those golfers than another bucket of balls, because the problem is decisions as much as swing.

Juniors

American Fork High is here, and a municipal course in town is one of the better environments a junior golfer can grow up in. Junior lessons are $40 for 30 minutes. Bring their clubs; a borrowed or inexpensive starter set is fine.

A lit range in town

Fox Hollow's driving range is lit, with evening hours most days of the week during the season. For an American Fork golfer, that means practice does not have to wait for a weekend. A short session after work, built around the written plan from your last lesson, does more than a long one once a month.

High school golf in American Fork

A boys team here plays its schedule in the fall, as most Utah schools do, while girls golf belongs to spring. For an American Fork High golfer, the months before a season are the time to change a swing. During the season, lessons move toward decisions on the course, which is where a 9-hole playing lesson earns its place.

A first lesson for an American Fork golfer

Lessons are about fifteen minutes south, at a range on the Orem–Vineyard line. If you play Fox Hollow, bring a recent scorecard or two. Where the strokes actually go, off the tee, on approach, or around the green, tells Tyler more than a few swings on the range can.

The first lesson is thirty minutes. Tyler finds the two or three things costing you the most strokes and writes your Game Plan, which you keep. Most students start with the 5-Lesson Package: $200, $40 a lesson.

Questions

Common Questions

Do you teach golf lessons in American Fork, Utah?

Yes. Olson Golf Academy works with golfers from American Fork and across Utah County. Lessons are one-on-one with Tyler Olson, a PGA Associate, at a range on the Orem–Vineyard line — about 15 minutes from American Fork. Tyler confirms exactly where to meet when you book.

How much are golf lessons near American Fork?

Most students start with the 5-Lesson Package: $200, which is $40 a lesson and saves $50. A single 30-minute private lesson is $50 and a 60-minute lesson is $90. Junior lessons are $40, and group clinics are $35 per player. Every price is published, no quote or phone call required.

How far is it from American Fork to the lessons?

About 15 minutes by car to the range on the Orem–Vineyard line. Exact meeting details come when you book.

Do I need my own clubs?

Yes. Bring your own clubs to every lesson. If you are shopping for a set, wait until after a few lessons: a fitting then will tell you far more about what to buy than a shop can before you have swung.

Do you teach juniors and complete beginners?

Both, and they are a large part of the work. Junior lessons are $40 for 30 minutes for players 17 and under. Complete beginners need no golf shoes and no experience, just their clubs. Your first lesson is the starting point, and the 5-Lesson Package ($200) is the best value.

Are Fox Hollow and Tri-City the same golf course?

Yes. Fox Hollow Golf Club in American Fork, at 1400 North 200 East, used to be called Tri-City. It was a joint venture between American Fork, Lehi and Pleasant Grove and was renamed after a remodel around 2008. Listings still show both names, but it is one course.

Can I practise at night in American Fork?

Fox Hollow's driving range is lit, with evening hours on most days during the season. Hours change through the year, so check with the course before you go.

What should an American Fork golfer bring to a first lesson?

Your own clubs, and a recent scorecard from Fox Hollow or wherever you play if you have one. Seeing where your strokes go helps Tyler pick the two or three things worth fixing first.
